Sired by our own red herd sire, Firefly, and out of a spotted grand daughter of My World Winston, we just had to add this unique jennet to our future brood jennet band. Candy is small and stocky, a hard-to-get combination, with an adorable small head. She will be a great match for either Pepper or bruise when she is old enough for breeding after her fourth birthday. Photos above were taken on 9/26/10, one day after she was body clipped. Thank you to my great friend, Dena Wilson, who is helping me take updated photos of all of our donkeys. What a super great friend I have found.  Heat or cold she is always ready to go and never complains. Plus she is so patient with the donkeys..

Going to a new home!
We had no intentions of selling this
fabulous jennet but we were made an
offer we simply could not refuse. If we
had not needed a new roof that we have put
off for years she would not have gone anywhere.

Nellie Blue came to us all the way from Texas with her stablemate, Sweet Sophie, when a rancher went out of the donkey business. Nellie is very heavy boned with a wide chest and a huge round rear. She has been hand bred to Black 'n' Blue for an October 25th, 2012 foal. We have not seen her come back in season but it is too early to test for pregnancy so she is selling as exposed but not guaranteed in foal.  Nellie use to be a little shy but now she is becoming so friendly that she follows us everywhere. Nellie is best friends with Sweet Sophie (see below) so special pricing allowance will be given if you take these two best friends together. We also will be glad to work with you on a payment plan....just ask.

Sweet Sophie came to us all the way from Texas when a rancher went out of the donkey business. We think Sophie is a very classy and elegant jennet and we are excited to see what she will produce in the future. Sophie has a wide chest, deeply rounded hip and a baby doll head. Sophie was bred to our dark jack, Black 'n' Blue, for a foal due next year on October 27th, 2012.  She has not come back into season but it is too early to test for pregnancy so she is selling as exposed but not guaranteed. Sophie is best friends with Nellie Blue (see above) so special pricing allowence will be given if you purchase these two best friends together. Sophie is just as sweet as her name implies. We just love the Trenton line and Tilly is a daughter of Trenton. This line produces such great legs on their foals. Tilly is as sweet as they come and easy to catch and handle. Tilly has a beautiful spot pattern with the black/brown spots that are so popular now.  She has wonderful conformation with a beautiful short wide head. We also have Tilly's daughter, Windcrest Autumn Sunrise, and her third generation granddaughter, KKR Pocketful of Poseys, in our herd now. They both have absolutely outstanding conformation just like their mom, Tilly. We really hate to part with Tilly but we must reduce our herd to be able to give our donkeys the individual attention that they crave. We are offering some of our bred jennets to reduce our work load during foaling season next year and also to make room for our foals we have kept over the past couple of year. Tilly is up to date on all vaccinations including West Nile and Botulism.  She has a negative coggins report dated 11/10/11. She is guaranteed safe in foal for next year. Tilly has also been DNA typed at Texas A&M University.

Tilly has been hand bred to Windcrest Firefly for her next foal due March 16th, 2012.

She has produced the following foals that we are aware of:

1) Windcrest Little Rio, 5/22/00, dark spotted jack;
2) Windcrest Autumn Sunrise, 9/18/01, very dark brown jennet;
3) KKR ShowKase, 1/06/06, black jack;
4) KKR Gone Hollywood, 4/9/07, dark brown jennet;
5) KKR Fortune Cookie, 9/11/08, dark brown jennet;
6) KKR Cute To Boot, 5/25/10, brown & white spotted jennet.

Dory was trained as a youngster by Kathy Loudamy at K&K Ranch in Texas and Kathy taught her how to  be a perfect lady in performing obstacle trail and halter classes. Dory is up to date on all vaccinations including West Nile, hoof trims and de-worming. She is easy to catch and handle and she has been microchipped. Dory has a negative coggins report dated 6/03/11.

Update 1/28/11. Photos above taken on January 28th, 2011, in her winter coat. Imagine what she will look like body clipped this summer. Thank you to Dena Wilson for handling Dory during her new photo shoot.

Update 4/12/11. Dory has been hand bred to Windcrest Firefly, our 30 ½" dark red herd sire with a large star, for an April 12th, 2012, foal.  Dory is positively guaranteed safe in foal. Her new foal will positively be red as red is a recessive gene and when you bred red to red you always produce red.

Update 5/14/11. Dory has been body clipped and new photos and videos are now posted. Dory loves to go, go, go...she would be an excellent performance donkey in harness or in hand. She loves to run beside you and would be a wonderful lead race performer. Dory's registration papers have her height at 32¼" but she is measuring closer to 32¾" tall. The new videos and photos were taken one day after Dory was body clipped. She will turn much darker and redder in a few weeks.

Dory is the dam of one foal:

1) Flight of Fancy Kiowa's Standing Ovation, 7/19/09, dark red/brown jennet.

Click MDR sign for Miniature Donkey Registry Pedigree Ma Bell's pedigree.

Bell was born one day before my retirement from 34 years of service with BellSouth Telecommunications Company. We named Bell in honor of this long awaited day. This is Glorianna's fourth foal and her fourth jennet in a row. Bell is a full sister to Bedazzled who was purchased by Nissen's Lazy N Ranch in The 2004 Great American Donkey Sale in Ohio and who we just recently purchased back. She is also a full sister to Hey Sailor, and a half sister to Paper Tyger, both of who we have retained in our herd. Bell has a beautiful tiny head and she is very stocky and stout.

Bell was sold as a weanling and we purchased her when her previous owner went out of the donkey business. We have always regretted letting her go and we were so glad to have the opportunity to add her back to our herd. Ma Bell  has been hand bred to Napoleon for a foal due 10/27/11 when we last observed her in season, but they were together until 11/29/10. Photos and videos of Ma Bell taken on November 5th, 2009. Thank you to my new friend, Dena Wilson, for helping me take these fantastic photos of Ma Bell.

Bell has had one foal for her previous owner but we do not know the details other than she was a jennet.

Bell had the last foal of our season on 10/24/11, a gorgeous spotted jennet, Bells 'n' Whistles. You can see them both live by clicking our barn cam link.

Click MDR sign for Miniature Donkey Registry Pedigree Ten's pedigree.

Ten is a very dark gray jennet with no light points and a faded star on her forehead. She is a full sister to Stonegate Acres Ciara, NMDA Champion & Best of breed winner, along with many other halter and performance wins. Ten has an awesome front and rear end on her, very full hindquarters, and has the most beautiful head you could ask for with a little dish face. And you couldn't ask for a sweeter, kinder temperament. You can do anything with her.

Ten rejected her first foal so we raised him on a bottle. We have rebred her to give her another chance to be a mom. Maybe she just was not mature enough to handle raising a foal. She has been trained for halter and trail obstacles by Wayne Lyon when she was a yearling so she should make a fantastic performance donkey.

Ten was pasture exposed to Heiken's Ark Napoleon. We last observed her in season on 3/26/11. She is now selling as guaranteed in foal. She started her bag on 2/04/12. She is now under the barn cam in the second stall and paddock along with Junebug. They can be viewed by clicking this link. Ten is up to date on all vaccinations including West Nile. She has a negative coggins report dated 6/3/11. She is microchipped and double registered in NMDA and Canada. The photos and videos above were taken on May 13th, 2011...the day after she was body clipped. Her coat color has turned much darker since that day.

Ten has a very slight underbite. It is well within the legal limit. Click here to see it. Her foal has a perfect bite.

Ten has produced one foal:

1) KKR Doo-Dah Day, 4/21/10, brown/gray gelding w/star.

2) HHAA Rock My World, 3/20/12, dark gray jack w/NLP.

Gone to a new home!
Ten will remain at Half Ass Acres until she has
foaled and until her new foal is old enough to travel.

Charlie is about as sweet and friendly as they come. She has a very comical personality and she will just crack you up with her antics. Raven was bred and born at Flight of Fancy Miniatures where they name most all their foals after aircraft. Yes, Raven is an aircraft, but it also means glossy black hair and this girl sure has that. She is as black as coal with no cross. Rave also has a small star and beautiful head like her sire, Front and Center. Raven has the most beautiful unusual eyes that seem to be staying deep blue. Her grand dam, Tequila, also has blue eyes. Raven is stocky, correct, and very black. Her muzzle is now white she has lost the intermediate coloring. She has a beautiful and very unusual “blue” eye. (although, as ADMS explains, it is technically a “grey” eye unlike the blue pinto eye).

Raven is on the truck now on her way to Half Ass Acres. She is scheduled to arrive on Sunday 7/17/11 at 5pm. New photos will be taken of her soon. We are very excited to add her to our herd but very sad that Jane Savage of Flight of Fancy Miniatures is now retiring from the miniature donkey business. Jane has been a valuable asset to the miniature donkey world and a wonderful mentor to me.

Update. Raven has arrived and she is stunning. She is a blue-black without even a hint of a cross.

One of our oldest jennets, Sheena, quickly approaching 20 years old certainly puts her “beauty marks” on her foals. Firefly seems to like the older women, too, and his pedigree carries through nicely in his foals.

We knew this elegant little girl was a knock-out the minute we laid eyes on her. She has a red/brown coat with precious bay pattern legs. The bay pattern leaves as they mature, but, for now, we are still admiring them as she dances and prances her way around the pastures.

We can truly say, “Zing. Went the Strings of My Heart” when we were able to see Heart standing up next to Sheena. Her head was held high looking right at us with determined eyes, and she was wearing that “look at me attitude”…..sturdy, straight legs, perfect bit, and ready to conquer the world. She appeared to even have a smile on her face..,..at that moment, “All nature seemed to be in perfect harmony, Zing. Went the strings of my heart.”

Heart Strings is up to date on all vaccinations including West Nile, de-worming and hoof trims. She has a negative coggins report dated 3/23/11. She has been well started in obstacle trail and will trot beside you on command. She has been worked by a youth (our friend Katie Randall)) for several months. We sure hate to part with this little girl but we need to make room for our new foals that are arriving soon. We will discount her price to a show home or if you buy more than one donkey.

    Sired by our own red herd sire, Firefly, and out of a spotted grand daughter of Gladybrooke Skp, this nice little lady is related to several of our favorite jennets already in our herd that are known superior producers. We purchased Fire Jumper at the same time we purchased Cotton Candy because they were already best friends and we didn't want them to be alone for the long and stressful trip from New Hampshire. We were delighted to have her. The photos and videos above were taken the day after Fire Jumper was body clipped. She has since darkened up from these photos. Thank you to Dena Wilson for her assistance with Jumper's photo session.

    Fire Jumper is up to date on all vaccinations including West Nile, de-worming and hoof trims. She has a negative coggins report dated 3/14/11. She is super friendly and easy to catch and handle.  She has been microchipped. If I were not trying to reduce our numbers to save my husband's back from keeping up with hoof trimming I would not be offering Fire Jumper for sale.

    Ebony is the sweatest little jennet. She is very gentle, loving and is a wonderful mother. Ebony doesn't bray...she sings. She always makes us laugh when she greets us. We are so happy to have Ebony in our herd. She always has beautiful, stocky babies.

    Photos of Ebony above taken on 10/31/10...six days after foaling. Her coat had been tinted red by the sun by the end of the summer when these photos were taken. Ebony really is just a very dark brown color when body clipped. It was too late in the year to clip her sunburned coat off for these photos. A big THANK YOU to Dena Wilson for her expert handling of Ebony for her photos and videos..

    Ebony is up to date on all vaccinations including West Nile, de-wormings and hoof trims. She has a negative coggins report dated 10/29/10. Glorianna has had so many wonderful foals for us and this little girl is another one we simply love. She is a very dark brown little one with no light points and she has the cutest personality. She was making squeaking sounds while she was being born and has never stopped. When we call her or she sees us coming she almost sounds like a little baby pig squeaking. Be sure to look at her video at the top of the page and you will see and hear what I mean.

    Tyger is very petite and small in statue. She has the best of her sire and dam and wears her progeny well. We feel she will stay small and we are so excited about adding her to our brood jennet herd as she matures.

    This little gal was named by Joe. He does not get to name many of our foals since I am always picking out names. We decided he would name her and he immediately named her Paper Tyger. It really does fit her and we love her name and her. Tyger is so full of personality and adds so much excitement to our mom and baby pasture. She is always running around sticking her nose into everything and making the cutest little sounds. She walks and talks, she runs and talks, and she stands while you pet her and talks. What a unique little girl. No she is not a pig, she only makes piglet sounds. LOL

    Looks like Tyger will not be for sale just yet. We plan to keep her for now but stay tuned as things change from time to time around here. I would love to keep all of them but my herd tends to grow by leaps and bounds quickly and I have to sell some. Until then…..!

    Update: We sold this jennet in 2011 and later repurchased her. She is one of our brood jennets now.

    We had another amazing birth take place. We had been watching Target all day and all night to have her foal since she had all the signs of foaling any minute. We had our bedroom monitor locked in on her. It was the wee hours of the morning and I had just walked in to get something to eat when I happened to glance at the computer screen with all the other cams and saw that we had a donkey down and pushing. It was not Target, it was Sweet Pea! I ran into the bedroom and awakened Joe and we both darted out to the barn in time to assist Sweet Pea with her foaling. Sweet Pea had a text book delivery and presented us with the most precious little intermediate points black jennet. We are so blessed to have had such two unbelievable foals back to back.

    Sweet Pea was bred to Black n Blue, aka Bruise, our young herd sire and this was his first offspring. We are so excited about what he has produced for us. He and Sweet Pea have put their gene stamp on this gorgeous little girl in a very special way. We could not be any more pleased with Sweet Pea, Bruise, or Sweet Punch. Our friend in Florida, Donna, named this little foal for us. Suits her since she is sweet as can be and her daddy is Bruise, the jack with the 'knock-out' punch! Thanks, Donna, we love her name!

    Sweet Punch was sold in 2011 and later repurchased. She is now one of our brood jennets and she is expecting her first foal in 2016.

    Video taken when Napoleon was a young jack. He has since
    filled out as you can tell by the more recent video below. This
    is what Napoleon's coat looks like when he is body clipped.

    Napoleon on 2/17/10 in his full winter coat.

    Napoleon is our spotted herd sire. He is a heavy-boned, compact jack with a tiny, short head, heavy jaw and correct legs. He has deep halos around every single one of his spots. He has a lot of interesting colors and donkeys in his background including McLendon's 45 Magnum, a 28 ¾" dark brown jack. This boy is undoubtably the most laid-back jack we have ever encountered.  He lives in our backyard with our dogs during the cold winter months when we don't want any foals born. Thank you to Ed and Linda Trimnell at Windcrest Acres for allowing us to purchase this fine boy.

    Oh, how we did not want to part with Napoleon but we have retained his 2010 son, Jealous Much, as our new junior herd sire. It will be difficult to fill his sire's hooves.

    We expected alot out of this crossing but Black 'n' Bling has far surpassed anything we could imagine. He is blue/black with a star and an unusual snip on his nose right between his nostrils. He has the best attributes and qualities of both parents. He has his dad's 'baby-doll' head with big, expressive blue/gray eyes and stocky conformation. His legs are straight and wide and he is an elegant mover that appears to glide over the ground. He has long banana shaped ears. Bling inherited both parent's calm disposition and diminutive size.

    Even at his young age, Bling is confident and independent much to his mom's dismay. He has no fear of surroundings or strangers. He is already walking over obstacles on our trail course.

    Donkeys like Bling come around once in a blue moon. It is obvious to everyone that he is definately herd sire material. The minute he hit the ground he had a presence that captured our attention and completely put us under his spell.  Visit us soon to be mesmerized too!!

    In honor of our visitors, Ed and Angela Preston of Hill Country Miniatures in Texas, who were visiting at the time of his birth, we decided to name this boy Presto. Thank you to Wendy Lyon for dreaming up the perfect name. It was truly an “abracadabra moment” for all of us….when he was finally on the stall floor we could tell that he was one magnificent boy. He is a big boy and one that I would love to keep and train as my very own gelding. No doubt he has the looks to catch the judge’s eye and his personally is just as magical as his looks. I can see him now in a polished harness strutting his stuff in the show ring. He is one of the prettiest newborn donkeys you have ever seen. Presto has blue/grey eyes like several of his half brothers and sisters sired by Itsy Bitsy Front and Center. His newborn pictures and videos say it all!

    Owen was gelded (castrated) on November 22nd, 2010, and has recovered totally.. He measured 30 ¼" tall on 4/08/11, the last time his hooves were trimmed and we don't expect him to grow very much taller. Owen was rejected by his first time mom and he was raised on a bottle by a fellow breeder of donkeys. They are making a big move to Arizona and since we have had previous experience with bottle fed babies they recommended that we purchase Owen.  He is a little spoiled as most bottle babies are but since he has been castrated he has not done one single thing that has made us scold him. He thinks he is a human and really just wants to be loved. He is up to date on all vaccinations including Eastern/Western Encephalitis, Tetanus, West Nile, Strangles, Rhino and Influenza. He was last wormed with Equimax and has a negative coggins dated 11/02/10. Here is your chance to purchase a young gelding that has already been castrated. He is ready to go home with you and begin his training now.  Owen's sire is a top award winning donkey in the show ring. We are sure that Owen could follow in his sire's hoof prints.

    Owen's price will increase as his training begins and progresses....better grab him now!

    A big 'thank-you' to Dena Wilson for her expert handling of Owen during his photo session. Dena even used her pony-tail to get Owen's ears up. You're the best, Dena!!

    Marestare's May Foal of Month 2011!Marestare's May Baby of the Month! Pinkie Swear (Cuss) was the first foal born for the month of May on marestare's barn cams.

    When I was a young girl I made many 'pinkie swears' but none compare to this cross between one of my favorite brood jennets, a light red (pink) jennet named Lady Slipper and My World Winston, one of the most impressive jacks I have ever known. I swear...this foal is a wonderful blend of both of his parent's best attributes; so good that it made us actually cuss when we saw him! Hence his barn name, Cuss! Cuss is small, compact, powerfully stout, with a chest to die for. His light red color makes him stand out amongst all of our foals. He has that cocky attitude that draws the girls to him in droves.

    This foal is a full brother to FOF Cardinal RG, FOF Angel Fire, FOF Mach One, FOF Tomcat, and FOF Sheridan. He is a half brother to FOF Aphroditie's Pink Nitie who is a member of our future brood jennets.

    Our 2011 foaling season really started off with a nail biter. We had been waiting for several of our girls to foal but they seemed to be running over their expected due dates. Kissed By a Rose was the only maiden jennet we had due this year so, as always with maiden jennets, we were very anxious for her first time foal to arrive.

    Our eyes were glued to the monitor so we could be with her from the very start of her labor. Thank goodness we were watching so closely and could help her through her first foaling, which was quite difficult for her and for Nic. So many times maidens just don’t know enough about what to do to help push that baby on through their birth canal. It took forever so Joe skillfully reached in to extract the foal. He only had the tips of two feet to work with so he had to be very careful. Our hearts were beating so fast and we knew it was a race against time for baby and, of course, for Rosie. After approximately 35 minutes we felt we were going to lose the baby but knew we had to get her foal out and relieve Rosie too. I even covered the barn cam so no one would have to witness what we felt might be a difficult situation. I had already put a call in to our vet to come when all of a sudden Joe was able to secure the foal and carefully pull him out. His little tongue was already turning blue and we feared the worse. Much to our surprise, he started breathing and within a few minutes he was standing up like a pro and nursing in record time, and walking around like “what’s all the fuss about?”……he was truly saved "in the nick of time!!!" It was meant to be that we named him Nic-a-Time. Nic is one of the nicest little jacks we have had born at our farm. He has nice body mass, stocky, straight, compact, and personality plus! What a fantastic boy!!! He weighed in at 30½ lbs. and we really believe he is a thirteen month old foal. He is truly something special which you can readily tell from his photos and his video made when he was only 3 days old. Yes, we plan to offer him for sale…..someday! Right now all we can do is stand back and admire his beauty and Praise the Lord for such a special boy.

    We have wanted to own Roller for many years...even before he was born we tried to purchase his dam, Lottie, but Kathy Loudamy beat us to her.  We have admired Roller's sire, FOF Cardinal RG, and grand sire, My World Winston, for many years and we think they are two of the finest red herd sires in the country with their wide chests and stocky builds.  We have Roller's grand dam, Sunset Acres Lady Slipper, in our own herd now and she is one of our very favorite brood jennets. Slipper's daughter and Roller's half sister, FOF Pink Nitie, is also in our herd and will be old enough to breed in 2013.

    Roller was bred, raised and trained by Kathy Loudamy of K&K Ranch in Texas. Maria and Katie Randall of Little Miracles Farm in Tennessee finished his training and have him well started under harness.   Roller helped Katie win high point or reserve high point youth for several years in The Tennessee Donkey ASSociation's Year End High Point Awards with very limited showing.
