Mary is a super, tiny, fancy, spotted, show jennet. This adorable jennet is only three weeks away from her first birthday and is not quite 28" tall. She is super sweet and friendly too.

She has been shown twice at very large prestigious shows and won first at her first show and second place at her last show. She knows how to 'set up' in the line up and she will willingly trot on command for the judge.

We have decided to only promote our performance geldings next year so we would love to see Mary go to a show home. We are confident she would continue her winning ways and be an asset to anyone's breeding program.

We had been watching Target non-stop for days. She had all the signs of foaling including white milk, but, for some reason she was holding out having her baby. I think I know why now!

Late Easter Sunday evening is when Target wanted to give us the best Easter present of all. She had been saving her until the last minute so it would be a very dramatic ending to such a special Easter Holiday! I can tell you without a doubt this foal was well worth the wait. Everyone who knows me can tell you that my favorite candy in the world is the candy only available at Easter time….Peeps! I can never seem to get my fill of those “all sugar chicks.” This little jennet is truly my Peeps! I cannot seem to get my fill of this little girl…..I am addicted!. She is as sweet and delicious as an Easter basket chock full of PEEPS! We wanted to name this gorgeous red jennet, with a star on her forehead, something very sweet and meaningful....and my friend, Dena, thought of this perfect name for her. Peeps is truly a knock-out and her heavy bone, wide chest, long ears, and pleasing personality make her the “sweetest Easter candy” in our basket this year. Please feel free to come see her and get “a taste” of Peeps. She will become your favorite candy as well!

We had been anxiously awaiting this 'My World Winston' foal and we could not be more pleased. She is fire ball red with heavy bone and near perfect conformation. She is tiny yet stocky with an awesome presence about her.

Baptism by fire will purify the things in you that need to be purged. We loved the meaning of the phrase and this is the perfect little jennet to bestow this name upon.

First of all a BIG THANK YOU to one of our Mare Stare viewers, Canadianlady, who called to wake us up and tell us Bow was in labor. We had been watching Sunshine, who had all the signs of going in to labor, rather than Bow who had no immediate signs of labor. I felt for sure our viewer had made a huge mistake. Not so…Bow 's water had broken and she was in full labor right before our eyes. We, hurriedly, ran to the barn and were able get there for the beautiful birth of a perfect spotted little girl.

You may remember that Bow is the mother of our adored Pony-Tailed Lass who was born 2 years ago with no tail. Many of you helped with her doctor bills for her operations during the fund raiser named "Pin the Tail on the Donkey" that was organized by my cherished friend, Sandy Dorris. Pony Tail is one special little girl and a great mascot for us at Half Ass Acres sent to us from Heaven above. She will remain with us forever. You can now imagine some of our anxiousness about the birth of this foal. When the foal was clear of her mother, we immediately looked to make sure she had her tail. There it was, it was gorgeous, Bow was fine, the baby was fine, and all was right with the world. I told Joe she had the prettiest tail I'd ever seen. Tears of joy, for our dear Bow and her baby, rolled down my face as I gave all the Praise and Glory to our Lord for this baby.

We have named Pony Tail's sister, "Gypsy Heart" for her beautifully colored coat and for all the warmth in our hearts over her birth. She catches your eye dancing around looking like a beautiful gypsy in all her finery. Her stocky little body is covered with spots of several colors. We see dark brown, black, even tones of red. This little spotted girl has it all in one nice solid package.

A nice drafty black jennet that commands your attention. She is a great granddaughter of Rainbow's Blizzard. Co-co is eager to please and loves to be right with you in the pasture. She is very social with the other jennets and has many pasture buddies. She has a gorgeous head, perfect bite, and very correct legs. Photos & video of Co-co above taken on August 25th, 2007, after Co-co was bathed and body clipped. You can see photos of her unclipped in her video above. Co-co is another donkey that belonged to my friend's husband that suddenly passed away. We just could not resist any longer. We had to have Co-co for ourselves!

Co-Co has been hand bred to our dark spotted Tennessee High Point Halter Jack, Jealous Much, for a foal due March 14th, 2013. She has already passed several heat cycles since then without coming back in season so we think she is safe in foal. Co-Co's registration papers have her height at 33¾" but we are measuring her at 34¼".

Co-Co is the dam of the following four foals:

1) Wit's End Hotty Chocolate, 10/17/04, black jennet;

This is a special one and another keeper. We are building an awesome sorrel herd of donkeys! Leigh is named after our friend, Gary Lee Shebeck from the Ponderosa Donkey Farm in Iowa, who was visiting the night before she was born. I am glad she waited until after he left to arrive or he would have tried to talk me out of her! Sometimes my little bad donkeys are really smart. LOL!!!

Photos and videos above were taken on September 23rd, 2010, with the help of my great friend, Dena Wilson!

I let a clever person talk me right out of Ponderosa
Leigh when I had no intentions of ever selling her.
In truth, Ponderosa Leigh picked her by following her
new owner every step she took during her entire visit.
How could I not let her go when they so instantly bonded?

Rosebud was microchipped today and given a booster of Prestige V+West Nile 7-way vaccine. She has a negative coggins report dated 5/01/12. Her hooves were last trimmed on 4/15/12. She will be nineteen years old on her next birthday but she still has a lot of years left in her for you to enjoy owning a donkey. She has been best friends with her daughter since her daughter was born in 2004 and she cannot be separated from her. It would just be too stressful for them both. Bob and Sandy rescued both of these girls when their owner passed away and they found Rosebud with her teeth so badly in need of dental work that she could barely eat. An equine dentist worked on her teeth until she can now comfortably eat although she does have missing teeth on the left side where grass gets caught occasionally. It is easily removed with just a flick of your finger. In order to keep these two ladies together for life we are offering them at a bargain package price.

Rosebud is the dam of three foals that we are aware of:

We have measured her several times since we have owned her and she has measured exactly 29¾" every time.

Thank you to Terri McDonald and Sandy Dorris for helping me take those adorable photos above of Piper in November of 2007, especially the one where Piper is giving us the stink eye!

Piper is the dam of the following foals:

1) Rock'n NT's Jewell, 5/02/04, gray NLP jennet;
2) Rock'n NT's Nickelback, 6/12/05, gray NLP gelding;
3) Rock'n NT's Steeley Dan, 6/02/07, gray NLP gelding;
4) HHAA Gussy Up

We've been apprised that Teenie's write-up is long overdue. It's not like we were sitting in front of the television set eating bon-bons...check out the newborn page. Anyway, I digress....Teenie was born two week's early on Valentine's Day. She is a gorgeous little dark gray doll with no light points and a huge personality. She is correct in every way with a perfect bite, wide chest, and great topline.

She knows she shares her pasture with four little jacks and she is certainly the little diva of the group! Her ear has almost straightened out but it only adds to her spunky attitude.

Everyone who visits wants her but we have to disappoint them when we say, "you missed out on this gal as she was spoken for the day she was born."

It's a gorgeous spotted girl with a short wide head just like my favorite donkey, Junebug.  She has a perfect bite, stocky straight legs...wide chest. Dark eyeliner all the way around one eye except for one tiny spot of pink in one corner and a half and half dark eyeliner on the other eye.  Cutie has deep halos around all of her spots which means they will never chang. We are thrilled with this girl..  Rowdy and Tilly are a great match together..

We really hate to part with Cute To Boot but we must reduce our numbers before the new donkeys we purchased arrive and my husband has a heart attack. LOL.. Cutie is up to date on all vaccinations including West Nile, de-wormings, and hoof trims.

Poppy is about as sweet and friendly as they come. She use to be Pony-Tail's best friend but PTL has now buddied up with Shimmy so we are now offering Poppy for sale to reduce our herd to a more manageable number. Poppy is up to date on all vaccinations including West Nile, hoof trimmings and de-wormings. She has a negative coggins report dated 11/10/11.

Photos above taken on August 30th, 2010. The sun went out just as we started taking photos and did not come back out until we had turned Poppy loose and she had rolled herself into a mud ball. We will try for better photos another day! Thank you to Maria Randell for handling Poppy for her photo session!

Poppy was with Heza brick House  from 10/02/11 thru 11/06/11. We last observed her in season on 10/02 so, hopefully, she will foal in October of 2012. She is selling as exposed but not guaranteed as it is to early to test for positive preganancy and this would be her first foal and the jack's first foal that she was bred to. The jack is very young and inexperienced so we are not sure he is yet successfully settling jennets in foal. We have separated our jacks for the winter as it is too cold in this area to be having foals any later in the year. Only time will tell if Poppy is in foal. We will discount her price if you purchase two or more of our donkeys. We will gladly let you make payments...just ask!

Sheena is one of our smallest plus sweetest jennets. The photos above of Sheena were taken at the age of 20 right after she had foaled her 12th baby, Heart Strings. We exposed Sheena to Windcrest Firefly all summer long this year and she kept coming back in season. We think she may want to retire from the baby business. We might place her in a pet home if we can find one good enough for her. Sheena is a very special jennet and we have had her longer than any other donkey on our place. If we can't find the perfect home for her she can just live her life out here at Half Ass Acres.

Sheena is up to date on all vaccinations including West Nile and Botulism. She has a negative coggins report dated 1/09/12. She has recently had her teeth floated. She is super easy to catch and handle. We want her to go to a special pet home where she will get individual attention and be loved on daily. Sheena still has a long life ahead of her as donkeys may live up to 40 years or even longer! Penny, our oldest jennet, is over 35 and still going strong. We think she is going to outlive even us!

We had Sheena tested for pregnancy on 1/3/12, by an exterior ultra-sound machine used by a veterinarian and she tested negative. She was retired sold to a pet home.

She is the dam of the following foals:

1) Half Ass Acres Whitney Houston,9/19/93, brown jennet;
2) Half Ass Acres Michael Jordon, 9/19/94, brown/gray jack;
3) Half Ass Acres James brown, light red jack foaled in 1995;

Firefly sure put his mark on this beautiful red jennet with that large star right in the middle of her forehead. Watch Me Shine will live up to her name whether in the show ring or the breeding pen. She is a full sister to Big Money who is now a herd sire in England. She is also a full sister to Rocket's Red Glare, a gorgeous red jennet who is offered for sale due to the untimely death of her owner at Wit's End Farm.

Shine has show winning conformation with her straight legs, perfect bite, wide chest and level topline. She struts her stuff like she knows all eyes are on her. She will be offered for sale to keep our herd at a manageable number. Visit our 'for sale' page for more information.

Whimsy was due on June 14th so she arrived 3 weeks and 3 days early. She's a tiny thing but she's stocky like her dad, Bruise, with his baby-doll head. Don't let her small size fool you as she has a personality larger than life. She doesn't have a shy bone in her stout little body. We named her Whimsy because she has a fanciful area on her bottom that always looks like a light is shining on her no matter which way she is turned.

Her dam, Picabo, has produced many national champions. Whimsy could easily be a show donkey, future brood jennet, or the best pet one could ever hope for. We are reluctantly offering her for sale simply to keep our herd size at a manageable number. Our goal is for each of our donkeys to receive the attention that they so deserve.

Firefly had everything we looked for in a donkey; a wonderful temperament, heavy-boned, balanced, a gorgeous color, and so tiny too! He passed all these wonderful qualities to his offspring. We have retained quite a few Firefly daughters and we also now have his son, Radiance. We have changed to another jack with a completely different pedigree so we no longer have a need for Firefly's services. He was a wonderful jack for us for many, many years.

Firefly was castrated on October 2nd, 2012, and he has fully recovered from his operation and he is living with all of our other geldings and getting along just fine. If he does not sell soon he will be taught how to pull a cart and we may offer him for sale to a special home that will give him the life he deserves. Pepper has been retired and gelded so that he can live out the rest of his life in happiness. Pepper has meant to much to us over the years not to take care of him in his old age. We have several of his daughters and grand daughters in our herd so his legacy will live on!

These photos were taken in September of 2010, at sixteen years of age! Pepper was turned out with our other geldings six weeks after he was gelded. He is so very happy with constant company. It does our hearts good to see him playing with other geldings every day.

It's a miracle...our little jennet has turned into a jack! This will be the last time I don't check behind my husband for one or two holes!!  Maybe this was a practical joke from Heaven from Bob himself! This has Bob's name written all over it! Thanks for the laugh, Bob, Sandy really enjoyed this one!  But the first thing I am going to do when I get to heaven is kick Bob's ass for kicking us off our high horse! I can hear Bob roaring with laughter all the way from heaven!

Just born on the 29th of February Leap Year!! He is a spot with eyeliner all the way around his right eye plus an eye patch and on the top of left eye and partial lower left eye. Perfect bite. Bobby has a 'wreath of roses' spot pattern around his neck.  Surely a gift from Bob to Sandy!!!

Raven belonged to Bob & Sandy Dorris of Wit's End Farm before she lived at Half Ass Acres.. Bob passed away unexpectedly  on February 22nd, 2012, just seven days before this foal was born. The very last act of love that Bob did was send his wife, Sandy, a text telling her that he loved her. In honor of Bob's courageous act and because this jack was born on leap year day we chose the name of Lover's Leap. His call name will be Bobby. We hope this honors the memory of this wonderful man that will be missed by all who knew him.

Thank you to our friend, Sally Lightner, for suggesting the perfect name!

We purchased Caddie from Mike & Loydene Brown of North Gate Farm.  Cadillac Jack was trained and shown for many years by Cal Getz of Cal Getz Training in Joshua, Texas. He has been shown by youths and adults all over the country throughout his career. His winnings are too numerous to mention but he was the Southwestern Donkey and Mule Socity High Point Donkey of 2004. When the Brown's called us to tell us he was available we jumped at the chance to own him for our great nephew to show. Sadly our great nephew has no interest in showing donkeys.

We took Caddie to our first show in March and he won the obstacle driving class against stiff competition and many other ribbons that day. He was a blast to show. This donkey is consistent and reliable. He is perfect for a youth or beginner to show as he is pushbutton and bomb proof. Don't let Caddie slip through your fingers if you have an interest in showing or just want a donkey to have a ton of fun with at home.

Caddie is up to date on all vaccinations including Eastern/Western Encephalitis, Tetanus, Rhino, Influenza, West Nile and Botulism. He has been de-wormed regularly and his hooves will be freshly trimmed before he leaves for his new home. He gets along with all donkeys and he is easy to catch and handle. He is a doll to body clip and even let me clip the inside of his ears without moving. Caddie is a dream donkey to own and he would not be offered for sale if we already did not own our capacity of performance donkeys. At our age we can just handle working and showing a few donkeys in our Tennessee heat and it would be a shame for Caddie not to be put to good use at what he loves to do....pleasing his humans.

Caddie comes with his own fitted driving harness complete with bridle & bit, overcheck, surcingle (saddle), breeching, breast collar, a brand new set of maroon harness pads, reins, (as shown in videos taken June 2012 & photo below) plus green high quality harness bag (not shown) and his own show halter (see below).

Frenchy was trained by Wayne Lyon of Canada and has since been shown successfully by many people. Frenchy would never have been offered for sale if it was not for his last owner suddenly and unexpectedly passing away while he was at the barn caring for his beloved donkeys. His widow will be selling her farm to move to a home with less upkeep and more people around so she asked me to please help her find their donkeys a perfect home where they will be loved and cared for in the same manner that they are accustomed. Frenchy has just been a loving pet and living the life of riley for many years but the videos below show him driving and performing trail obstacles for the very first time since he has been at our home. Imagine how well he will perform after a few practice sessions! He would be ideal for an adult or experienced youth who wanted to start competing this year. He may be a little too strong right now for a young or inexperienced youth.

Frenchy will be up to date on all vaccinations, hoof trims and de-wormings before he goes to his new home. He was given a booster of Prestige V+West Nile 7-way vaccine on 4/3/12. He has a negative coggins report dated 3/24/12. Frenchy looks absolutely adorable in the winter time in his long wooly coat. His mane grows so long that it hangs over his neck much like a horse's. We body clipped his long shaggy coat off the day that we took these photos and his coat is uneven right now but will grow out smooth in a few weeks. He was a perfect gentleman for his bath and haircut...even for his long ears...speaking of which "have you ever seen such a long set of ears?!!??" Frenchy is friendly and gets along with other donkeys and loves people. He is the first up to the fence when visitors arrive. He can be pastured with jennets, other geldings and even with foals. If you are looking for a donkey to give you a lifetime of memories....don't let Frenchy slip through your fingers!!

Gone to a new home!
On the truck heading to Kansas now!!
We will miss you Frenchy!!

Magi is the Christmas baby that was raised in the house with a cat for his very best friend. He has grown up to be a beautiful, stocky boy just full of personality. He and his best friend, Hero, would probably match up perfectly if they were both body clipped. They would make a beautiful driving team one day when mature. Magi was vaccinated for eastern/western encephalitis, tetanus, rhino, influenza (2 strains) and West Nile on 3/26/12. His hooves were done the same day and he is up to date on de-worming. He has a negative coggins report dated 5/01/12. He is already microchipped and registered.

Gone to a new home!

Hometown Hero's registration papers have not been sent in so you can name him anything you wanted to. We have printed out his left and right photos to be used when registering him. His vaccinations, hoof trims, and de-wormings are up to date and he has been microchipped. He was last vaccinated in September but he will be given a booster of Prestige V+West Nile 7-way vaccine before he leaves for his new home. Hero has a negative coggins report dated 5/01/12. He is a beautiful shade of black or very dark brown with the prettiest little compact head you ever did see. Hero is super sweet too. He and Magi would probably match if they were both body clipped as they both have intermediate muzzles. They are the very best of friends and we would prefer that they be kept together. They would make a great driving team one day.

We purchased Georgie for company on the ride home for his stablemate, Sabrina, who we also purchased from one of our fellow donkey club members who did not have room to keep them. Georgie is about as sweet and friendly as they come. He was gelded (castrated) on June 11th, 2012, and he is recovering nicely.This was Georgie's first bath and hair cut too and he was also a sweetheart and never gave us one minute of trouble. He has had his first set of vaccinations of Eastern/Western Encephalitis, Tetanus, Rhino, Influenza and West Nile. He will be given a booster of all the above vaccinations in three weeks. He has a negative coggins dated 6/11/12. He was wormed with Equimax on 6/12/12. His hooves were last trimmed on 6/09/12. Georgie must go to a home with at least one other equine.

Gone to a new home!
