Satin is another one of the last jennets from Merry-Go-Round Miniatures when they dispersed their herd. She does not have even a hint of a cross or stripe. If I had known how well I was going to like Marlene's Merry-Go-Round girls I would have purchased more. It was very cloudy and overcast the day we took Satin's photos and videos. We may try again another day when the weather is nicer. Satin has been hand bred to Kryptonite for a foal due the last week of June 2017. Satin is now at the barn off of the fescue grass and she is bagging up.

We absolutely love this fancy jennet. She has a personality to go right along with her looks too. The first day we took her on the trail course she took to it like a duck takes to water. We are so excited to add her to our show string this year. So many donkeys..so little time!! But we will always have time to show a donkey as magical as Magic...she is spellbinding. Magic is one of my very favorites.

We took Magic to her first and only show in 2016 and she tied for NMDA Reserve High Point Pre-Green Donkey at the Music City show in July of 2016. We are so very proud of her. We left her at home the rest of the year only because it is just too stressful to show more than four donkeys. She has 2 halter points and 17 in-hand points that she earned at one show!  This little donkey will be a deluxe trail donkey. She has the willingness and attitude of a future champion.

We plan to breed Viola this year to Zhivago for a foal due in 2018. Update! Viola has been washed and clipped and is now blanketed in a stall with her half sister waiting for their photo session later today. I washed and clipped her all by myself...even her ears and she and her sister were two little dolls. Viola's color is just gorgeous...she is a dark chocolate brown with roaning all through out her coat. She has a lot of different shades in her brown that gives her a striking marbled look.

Ch Chime was sold as a weanling and we just purchased her back when her owner decided she no longer is breeding miniature donkeys. Ch Chime is on the show circuit with us this year and she has already won several blue ribbons at prestigious shows while being handled by Katie Randall. We have updated her video below to include her show photos. She clipped off to be a black and white spotted...very rare indeed! Photos above were taken on July 20th, 2015, with the expert help of her handler/trainer, Katie Randall.

Ch Ching's name means excellent, fantastic, and is believed to come from the sound falling coins make. Her color is a dark brown/roan (near black) with white spots. She has two dark eyes with eyeliner all around. Ch Ching was sold as a yearling to my great friend, Jane Savage, at Flight of Fancy Miniatures in New Hampshire. We just recentely purchased her back when Jane sadly retired from the miniature donkey business so she could travel. This jennet is a full sister to the late and great Half Ass Acres Mojave who appeared on the cover of Asset Magazine one summer. She is also a full sister to Half Ass Acres Splish Splash and a half sister to HHAA Hula Hoop, HHAA Presto and HHAA Pajama Girl. Here is our first jennet we are offering for sale that came from Troytown Acres in South Carolina. Brown Sugar is a beautiful mover as you can see from her video. She is a very sweet jennet that is easy to handle but hard to catch. She was mistreated in her younger years before she was owned by Troytown Acres and she has a hard time trusting people. But once you catch her she couldn't be nicer. She wears a break-a-way halter that will be sold with her. She gets along fine with other donkeys in the herd. She is easy to trim her hooves and to wash, clip and photograph...she is just the perfect lady. Along with her eyecatching movement she also has the most perfect topline you could ask for. She passes these traits on to her foals. She is also a size reducer as all of her foals have matured smaller than she.

Sugar is up to date on all vaccinations including Eastern/Western Encephalitis, Tetanus, Rhino and Influenze that she last had on March 1st, 2017. She was vaccinated for West Nile and Rabies on 5/21/17. She had her hooves last trimmed on 5/20/17.  She was last de-wormed with Zimectrin Gold on 4/30/17. She is now pastured with our small black and white spotted herdsire, Kryptonite, for a foal due on 5/25/18, as her last heat cycle was on 5/25/17 .  She is selling as exposed but not guaranteed as it is to early to have her tested but she will remain pastured with Kryptonite until she leaves our farm.

She was registered by inspection do to an accidental breeding of her dam by a jack who was visiting the farm where her dam lived at the time.  Can we say 'parenthesis ears'!! She has the best set of ears in the miniature donkey world and she knows how to use them. Trickster never backs an ear! She is an easy breeder and all of her foals have been healthy. She is a wonderful mother. She loves to be groomed and petted on. She will roll her head when she is agitated. She has been known to 'borrow' foal from her friends. This will make her invaluable if you should ever, God forbid, lose a mom with a foal on her side. She is best friends with Fancy and Sugar. We are so pleased that all of these girls that have never been separated are staying together.

Luckily we were up and watching our barn cam in the bedroom and saw Dolly start her labor. We barely made it to the barn in time to move her to the foaling stall and assist with her birth. We did not take a birth video. Dolly is being the ideal first time mom and baby was up and nursing in record time. She has a fantastic spot pattern with two dark eyes with eyeliner all the way around both eyes and she has one dark ear and one white ear that resembles a bunny rabbit. Her ears are especially, extremely long. It took me forever to pick out my favorite photos and I am still not sure I picked out the best ones. Rosie has an adorable personality that makes her irresistable.

My, oh my, what a special doll this tiny girl is.  She certainly takes after her mother, Sweet Punch, and grandmother, Sweet Pea, by being as sweet and friendly as they come. Tipsy does not have a shy bone in her tiny body. We thought we had Tipsy sold but our customers ran into building problems and had to back out.  We are considering keeping Tipsy for ourselves now but we might be talked into letting her go if the right person comes along. A big 'thank you!' to our friend Courtney Farr Cassidy for coming up with the perfect name for this little girl.

We just recentely purchased Dawn from a breeder who is cutting back their herd. She was out of a brood jennet that we sold in foal. Her previous owner showed her in several NMDA shows and she did very well accumulating points towards her excellence in halter. Dawn is a very sweet and sensitive girl who would rather be with you than her donkey friends. She is red in the summer but looks pink in the wintertime. She has a wonderful topline and correct legs.

LOOK WHAT SHOWED UP AT OUR FARM!!!!! Is she real or is she a stuffed donkey on wheels??

As all of you know we get very excited about our jennets foaling. We get both excited AND anxious when the jennet is a maiden. Ramona is one of the smallest jennets we own, and, for that reason, we waited well beyond her 3rd birthday to breed her. We chose Napoleon to be Ramona’s first “encounter” with a jack. Boy, are we pleased with that pairing.

Ramona basically spit herself out with this little girl. She is ever so tiny but has the biggest heart and personality you can imagine. She struts around wearing her thick dark brown coat, no light points, with head held so high you would think someone had a “string” around her neck taking their “pull-toy” for a stroll in the park.   It was unbelievable how perfectly balanced she looked immediately following her birth.  Joe and I were anxious to get her weight and height…..she was a 4 X 4 … 19 ½“ tall and weighed 19 ¼ lbs. She was about as big as a square stick of butter full of lots of sugar. She had all the ingredients of a square piece of delicious chocolate cake. Yum, Yum.. we could just smooch on her all day. Like a sweet piece of cake, we simply cannot get enough of “Pull- String Toy”. Thank you, Sandy Dorris, for thinking of the perfect name for her!!

Toy was pasture exposed to Brick for a foal due in 2015. We last observed her in season on 4/30/14. She has been confirmed safe in foal by exterior ultrasound by our vet. This will be her first foal. We sold Miss HiFalutin as a newborn for $5000 in 2008. We just purchased her back from her owners that are having severe health problems plus they are moving and have no place to keep her. She has just been a cherished pet and lived the life of luxuary with her best friend, Bets (see below). She came back to us with a severe weight problem and we are slowly but surely getting her back down to a reasonable weight. We will breed her this spring for her first foal that will be due in 2016. We are thrilled to have her back as she is sired by our now retired and gelded former herd sire, Peppercorn, and out of one of our favorite and now deceased brood jennets, Glorianna. She is a full sister to Bedazzled, Ma Bell (now residing in Australia) and Hey Sailor.

Our foaling season this year has been awesome. With each birth we seem to have been blessed with unique and absolutely gorgeous foals.

This is Felina’s second baby, her first, Radiance, is now a Herd Sire in Arizona. Hissy looks exactly like her brother, Ray, except she only has a few tiny hairs for a star and Ray has a large star. In fact, she looks so much like him that we would have named her Red Ray if we had not already used that name.

On June 5th, 2009, Felina started the day out as if she was in early labor and was placed in a stall. That did not make her happy so as she continued showing more and more signs of labor we moved her to the birthing stall. She paced, and paced, and was very agitated to be so confined. We were unable to put her buddy in the next stall because we had filled that stall with hay a few days before. I went in her stall to sit with her and if I tried to leave she threw a fit. Those watching on Mare Stare were talking about how unhappy she seemed to be and wondered what was taking place. One person sent me this text message, “Felina is so spoiled, she even has to have her mom in the delivery room with her.What a hissy fit she is throwing!" That is when we knew what we would name this precious new baby.

New photos and videos were taken on October 30th, 2015. Thank you to Katie Randall for her expert handling of Hissy Fit during her photo shoot. Without Katie's help these photos would not have been possible. Hissy Fit is up to date on all vaccinations including West Nile, Rabies and Botulism. She has a negative coggins report dated 3/14/16.

Baby is the result of Kathy Loudamy’s fine breeding program at K & K Ranch in Texas. She is no longer breeding donkeys and we could not believe how very fortunate we were to be able to obtain this jennet. Baby’s full sister is one of only two jennets that Kathy retained when she dispersed her herd.

For such a small donkey, Baby is super correct with nice width in front and back, a perfect topline, straight legs and a fantastic hip. She has a beautiful, small head. She is dark brown with white points but looks almost black when she sheds out in the summer. Her sire is Sunset Acres Rowdy Yates (sadly now deceased), and her pedigree includes Little Motown, My World Buster, and Pine Grove Farm’s Peppercorn Jack.

This is Baby's resting year as her 2015 foal was just weaned. She is up to date on all vaccinations including West Nile and Rabies and she will have a negative coggins test pulled soon. We are not really anxious to sell Baby but we need to reduce our numbers due to family health problems. I will reduce her price if you have bought donkeys from us in the past....just ask!

Cold weather snuck up on us this fall so it looks like it may be next year before we have clipped off photos of this wonderful jennet. Ritz is the first daughter of our new herdsire, Kryptonite. We went ahead and took unclipped videos and photos on December 3rd, 2015. She will be gorgeous when we are able to body clip her next spring and take new photos and videos. We love this little girl. A big 'thank you' to Katie Randall who trains all our foals and makes these beautiful videos possible.

This little girl will be around 30" to 31" tall when mature. My other foals her age tower over her. Ritz has already had 3 out of the 5 vaccinations we give our foals before they leave. We will vaccinate her with the last two soon. She has been weaned and she is eating well. This jennet is so very friendly that we had a hard time taking her photos. She just wants to be by your side constantly. Her price will be discounted if you purchase more than one donkey or if you have purchased donkeys from us in the past.

Ritz holds the record for the fastest donkey we have ever sold. We listed her on our for sale page one minute and the next minute she was sold. Good thing because I was about to change my mind and keep her.

Dark spot with a wide blaze and a bull's eye star on her forehead. Two dark eyes with dark eyeliner all around both eyes. Four dark legs with one back white pastern. She has a dark band across her nose that makes her look like she is wearing a halter. She has deep halos around every single one of her spots. One of the most unusual spots we have ever seen. Photos above taken on September 12th, 2010, with the help of my great friends, Maria and Katie Randall!

We allowed Flirt to rest through 2014 and she was pasture exposed to Bruise from March 28th, 2015, thru May 2oth, 2015, for a 2016 foal due on April 15th, 2016, the last time we observed her in season. She must be sold and in her new home at least two months before her due date (February 15th, 2016). This will allow her to build up immunites at her new home so as not to put her unborn foal at risk. If not sold by then we will remove her from our 'for sale' list for the safety of her foal and we will then offer Flirt and her foal for sale separately at a higher price.

Autumn is a very drafty, well built jennet. She is another daughter sired by our former herd sire, Peppercorn Jack, and out of dark spotted Sunset Acres Tilly. She has a sweet disposition, shows lots of bone and is very wide in the chest and rear just like her sire and dam. Autumn was sold and later bred to our former herd sire, Jealous Much. We loved the spotted foal this combination produced so well that we purchased mom and foal back as soon as he was born. Her foal is now our future show gelding. We are now offering Autumn for sale once again as we have a serious family illness that will require many back and forth doctor visits so we must reduce our work load. She is up to date on all vaccinations including west nile and rabies. She has freshly trimmed hooves and has been dewormed regularly. She has a negative coggins report dated 6/01/15. We had long ago sold all of our taller jennets and I needed one to possibly one day produce a foal tall enough to be my next performance gelding. So here she is...Sara Carter. She is sired by the Champion and Champion Producing jack, Willow Creek Luigi. Luigi has been retired and gelded so there will be no more foals produced by him in the future.

The few spots that Sara has are either black or dark brown. She is about as sweet as they come. Thank you to my friend and fellow American Donkey Association member, Dennis Vonderfecht, at Appalachian Farmstead for allowing Sara to come live at Half Ass Acres.

Sara was pasture exposed to Black 'n' Blue for a foal due in 2015. The last time we observed her in season was on June 21st, 2014. She has been confirmed safe in foal by exterior ultrasound by our vet. This will be her first foal. Sara started 'bagging up' on 6/11/15.

Judith Ann just arrived all the way from Oregon with her best friend, Mon Cheri. We are thrilled to be adding Judith Ann to our herd. We needed to add more spotted girls for Bruise and she was bred to him when she matured. You can see in her video what a beautiful mover she is.

Judith Ann was shown one time when owned by Eola Hills and was 2nd place in halter at the 2011 Oregon NMDA Mule & Donkey Show.

She is going to knock their socks off first day out!

We purchased Puzzles from Itsy Bitsy Burro Co shortly after her birth. Jerry and Tonnie delivered her to us during the 2008 Great Celebration Mule & Donkey Show held July 10th thru 12th. Jerry showed her in the NMDA foal class on Thursday and won 2nd place showing against over 10 other entries. The Wilrich's had a dog show that Saturday and had to leave so Joe showed Puzzles in the National ACOSA class and won 2nd in the Two and Under Jennet class and then went on to win Reserve National Champion Spotted Jennet her second time ever in a show ring and the first time shown by Joe. We are so very proud of our new little jennet! It was quite an accomplishment for a six month old baby.

Puzzles 2013 foal has been weaned and we will allow her to rest through 2014/2015. Since this is Puzzle's resting year she is selling as open. She is up to date on all vaccinations including West Nile and Botulism, de-wormings and hoof trims. She has a negative coggins report dated 8/29/14. She is easy to catch and handle. How do we begin…Where do we start?....God has blessed us, yet again, with another gorgeous red jennet from Glow. Every time I look at her I have to say, “Be still my heart”, as I take in all her beauty. Glow is the dam of Little Whiskey Girl, who was 18 ¾" tall at birth (this was before we weighed our foals) and Bee Sting, who was 21½" tall and 23 lbs. at birth, and now Bumbles. What a trio of beautiful red foals Glow has had for us. Of course, let’s don’t forget the contribution made by Firefly with Bumbles and Bee. What a great combination!

Taking pictures of Bumbles was a joy. She already has that show ring stand down pat and the looks to go right in the ring and say, “Look at me”, I’m here to win.” She has a perfect 10 score from us. Bumbles is compact, straight legs, and one of the cutest heads you’ve ever seen. We were so thrilled to add this wonderful jennet to our brood jennet band. Her dam, Lady Slipper, has been one of my favorite jennets for several years and we were finally able to talk Jane Savage at Flight of Fancy Miniatures into letting us have them both. They are everything we could hope for. The Miniature Donkey Registry notified us that Pink Nitie's name was too long for the new 30 limit rules so her name is now FOF Aphroditie's Pink Nitie.

Hoopla is one incredible jennet...her bite is perfect, her legs are perfect, her personality is perfect. She has a nice, round rear...she is also the sweetest most agreeable thing. Her shiny dark coat takes your breath away in the summertime. Zelda came to live at Half Ass Acres so that her last foal, Dream Big, would have a traveling companion all the way from Nebraska. It has been a very hard decision but we are now offering our red donkeys for sale just to reduce our herd so we can handle the work load. We have already sold our red herd sire and we are now going to offer most all of our red jennets for sale except for three. We are keeping one of each shade: light, medium and dark red. Joe and I are both in our mid-sixties now and it is time to slow down a bit and enjoy our donkeys more.

Rosie is the dam of two foals in her lifetime and she is a wonderful mother. She is up to date on all vaccinations including West Nile and Bot-B. She had a booster of Prestige V+ West Nile on 9/17/13, which includes Eastern/Western Encephelitis/Tetanus/West Nile, Rhino, and Influenza three weeks before her foal, Kiss This, was born. This gives her foal immunity until she is old enough for her own vaccinations.

You can see in the videos that both Rosie and Smooch have outstanding qualities that make them a wonderful addition to your show string and/or breeding program. We had been watching Target non-stop for days. She had all the signs of foaling including white milk, but, for some reason she was holding out having her baby. I think I know why now!

Late Easter Sunday evening is when Target wanted to give us the best Easter present of all. She had been saving her until the last minute so it would be a very dramatic ending to such a special Easter Holiday! I can tell you without a doubt this foal was well worth the wait. Everyone who knows me can tell you that my favorite candy in the world is the candy only available at Easter time….Peeps! I can never seem to get my fill of those “all sugar chicks.” This little jennet is truly my Peeps! I cannot seem to get my fill of this little girl…..I am addicted!. She is as sweet and delicious as an Easter basket chock full of PEEPS! We wanted to name this gorgeous red jennet, with a star on her forehead, something very sweet and meaningful....and my friend, Dena, thought of this perfect name for her. Peeps is truly a knock-out and her heavy bone, wide chest, long ears, and pleasing personality make her the “sweetest Easter candy” in our basket this year. First of all a BIG THANK YOU to one of our Mare Stare viewers, Canadianlady, who called to wake us up and tell us Bow was in labor. We had been watching Sunshine, who had all the signs of going in to labor, rather than Bow who had no immediate signs of labor. I felt for sure our viewer had made a huge mistake. Not so…Bow 's water had broken and she was in full labor right before our eyes. We, hurriedly, ran to the barn and were able get there for the beautiful birth of a perfect spotted little girl.

You may remember that Bow is the mother of our adored Pony-Tailed Lass who was born 2 years ago with no tail. Many of you helped with her doctor bills for her operations during the fund raiser named "Pin the Tail on the Donkey" that was organized by my cherished friend, Sandy Dorris. Pony Tail is one special little girl and a great mascot for us at Half Ass Acres sent to us from Heaven above. She will remain with us forever. You can now imagine some of our anxiousness about the birth of this foal. When the foal was clear of her mother, we immediately looked to make sure she had her tail. There it was, it was gorgeous, Bow was fine, the baby was fine, and all was right with the world. I told Joe she had the prettiest tail I'd ever seen. Tears of joy, for our dear Bow and her baby, rolled down my face as I gave all the Praise and Glory to our Lord for this baby.

We have named Pony Tail's sister, "Gypsy Heart" for her beautifully colored coat and for all the warmth in our hearts over her birth. She catches your eye dancing around looking like a beautiful gypsy in all her finery. Her stocky little body is covered with spots of several colors. We see dark brown, black, even tones of red. This little spotted girl has it all in one nice solid package.

Alanis, Bow's dam, stood Grand National Spotted Jennet the only year we showed her and later she produced a baby even better than she is....a sign of a great brood jennet! Bow was born on her mom's birthday...no wonder she is the spittin' image of her...but even better. She was expertly delivered by Julia and Rhonda Vaughn while they were house-sitting for us when we were away attending Wayne Lyon's Driving Seminar in Texas. A big 'Thank-You' to both Julia and Rhonda for delivering the best spotted jennet ever born on this farm! Also a thanks to Julia for naming her godchild!

We purchased Sabrina from one of our fellow donkey club members who did not have room to keep her. Sabrina is a complete sweetheart. Rosebud was microchipped today and given a booster of Prestige V+West Nile 7-way vaccine. She has a negative coggins report dated 5/01/12. Her hooves were last trimmed on 4/15/12. She will be nineteen years old on her next birthday but she still has a lot of years left in her for you to enjoy owning a donkey. She has been best friends with her daughter since her daughter was born in 2004 and she cannot be separated from her. It would just be too stressful for them both. Bob and Sandy rescued both of these girls when their owner passed away and they found Rosebud with her teeth so badly in need of dental work that she could barely eat. An equine dentist worked on her teeth until she can now comfortably eat although she does have missing teeth on the left side where grass gets caught occasionally. It is easily removed with just a flick of your finger. In order to keep these two ladies together for life we are offering them at a bargain package price.

We purchased Piper from the 2007 Heart of American Miniature Donkey Sale and we couldn't be more pleased with her. We had been looking high and low for the perfect gray no light point jennet forever. She was consigned by Tracy Billing at Rock'n NT Ranch in Buffalo, Missouri. She is stocky and tiny and has the most pleasing personality. We have measured her several times since we have owned her and she has measured exactly 29¾" every time.

Poppy is about as sweet and friendly as they come. She use to be Pony-Tail's best friend but PTL has now buddied up with Shimmy so we are now offering Poppy for sale to reduce our herd to a more manageable number. Poppy is up to date on all vaccinations including West Nile, hoof trimmings and de-wormings. She has a negative coggins report dated 11/10/11.

Photos above taken on August 30th, 2010. The sun went out just as we started taking photos and did not come back out until we had turned Poppy loose and she had rolled herself into a mud ball. Poppy was with Heza Brick House  from 10/02/11 thru 11/06/11. We last observed her in season on 10/02 so, hopefully, she will foal in October of 2012. She is selling as exposed but not guaranteed as it is to early to test for positive preganancy and this would be her first foal and the jack's first foal that she was bred to. The jack is very young and inexperienced so we are not sure he is yet successfully settling jennets in foal. We have separated our jacks for the winter as it is too cold in this area to be having foals any later in the year. Only time will tell if Poppy is in foal. We will discount her price if you purchase two or more of our donkeys. We will gladly let you make payments...just ask!

Sheena is one of our smallest plus sweetest jennets. The photos above of Sheena were taken at the age of 20 right after she had foaled her 12th baby, Heart Strings. We exposed Sheena to Windcrest Firefly all summer long this year and she kept coming back in season. We think she may want to retire from the baby business. We might place her in a pet home if we can find one good enough for her. Sheena is a very special jennet and we have had her longer than any other donkey on our place. If we can't find the perfect home for her she can just live her life out here at Half Ass Acres.

Sheena is up to date on all vaccinations including West Nile and Botulism. She has a negative coggins report dated 1/09/12. She has recently had her teeth floated. She is super easy to catch and handle. We want her to go to a special pet home where she will get individual attention and be loved on daily. Sheena still has a long life ahead of her as donkeys may live up to 40 years or even longer! Penny, our oldest jennet, is over 35 and still going strong. We think she is going to outlive even us!

We had Sheena tested for pregnancy on 1/3/12, by an exterior ultra-sound machine used by a veterinarian and she tested negative.

Candy is small and stocky, a hard-to-get combination, with an adorable small head. She will be a great match for either Pepper or Bruise when she is old enough for breeding after her fourth birthday. Photos above were taken on 9/26/10, one day after she was body clipped. Thank you to my great friend, Dena Wilson, who is helping me take updated photos of all of our donkeys. What a super great friend I have found!  Heat or cold she is always ready to go and never complains. Plus she is so patient with the donkeys!!
